What sanitizing and deodorizing is — and isn’t

Duct sanitizing and deodorizing is an add-on to air duct cleaning, not a replacement for it. Treating dirty ducts without cleaning them first doesn’t make much sense, so we clean first and then apply the treatment if you’d like it.

It’s meant to help with odors in the ductwork. It is not a medical treatment, and we don’t make health claims about it. If anyone in your home has allergies, asthma, or chemical sensitivities, talk with us before your visit and ask any questions you have about the product being used.

When homeowners consider it

Fix the source first

Odors in ductwork usually have a cause. A musty smell can point to moisture, such as a clogged condensate drain, a leak, or high indoor humidity. Sanitizing can help freshen the system, but if there is an ongoing moisture problem, it needs to be addressed for any improvement to last. We’ll tell you honestly if what we see looks like it needs an AC technician or another professional.
